Teleophthalmology as a screening for Diabetic Retinopathy

Abstract
Teleophthalmology is an area that allows the diagnosis, treatment, research and tracking of diseases, all through the use of technology with continuous educational opinions and synchronous and asynchronous care aimed at speeding up the resolution of cases of ophthalmic follow-up, reduction of the waiting list, gain of time. The objective of this study was to develop a systematic literature review, regarding the use of Teleophthalmology as a screening for DR in Primary Care and Comorbidities from DR. The content was organized using the PreferredReportingItems for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyzes (PRISMA) method. The collection of articles began on July 6, 2019, using the Virtual Health Library, databases: LILACS, SCIELO and MEDLINE. D writers: Diabetes Mellitus, Diabetic Retinopathy and Teleophthalmology. Through the descriptors, 32,882 articles were selected, after applying filter 2 (inclusion criteria), 3 (exclusion criteria) and 4 (research question), the final sample comprised 15 articles. However, the use of teleophthalmology, although premature, deserves investment and improvement, since the added benefits aim at the health and quality of life of patients with diagnosed Diabetes Mellitus, evolving to RD. The examined data brought clarity regarding the empowerment of SUS, for early diagnosis and information through telemedicine.
