Teleconsulting’s efficiency; monitoring of patients after receiving teleconsulting in programs in public hospitals: Chihuahua Mexico
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article shows the results of an analysis performed on 1251 teleconsultations of patients who received medical attention within the telemedicine program of the Secretary of Health of Chihuahua in Mexico in 2017. The objective is to determine the percentage of patients who received one of the benefits of the telemedicine; avoid patient transfers. The percentage of patients who could take the treatment in the remote unit was determined, without having to travel to any of the three specialty hospitals within the network, located in Ciudad Juárez and in the city of Chihuahua, Mexico. In addition to monitoring the care process immediately after the teleconsultation, the time to receive the specialty consultation was counted. The results show that 62 of 97 patients receive all the treatment in their unit of care without needing to move, and that they reduce from 11.5 weeks to 1 week on average to receive specialty consultation. This gives us a concrete approximation of patients benefited in telemedicine programs and gives rise to determine standards of care.
