Abstract

Craniofacial anomalies constitute a diverse and complex group of congenital defects. In spite of this, these anomalies have a significant impact on the life quality of the individual and of his whole family. In this context, health agents are able to provide better assistance to the community, as they know the local reality deeply. Objective: to promote the community health agents team qualification in craniofacial anomalies, sensitizing them for the need for intervention in health promotion through the use of media technologies and resources. Results: From 187 answers obtained before the Continuing Education Strategy, only 37 (19.7%) reflected previous knowledge regarding the exposed topic. At the end of the strategy, there was a change in the pattern of responses. From 37 (19.7%) to 168 (89.8%) for the assertive responses that reflect an increase in the level of knowledge and in comparison the responses that reflect ignorance the drop in the index was from 150 (80.3%) to 19 (10.2%) and this decrease was statistically significant (McNemar test: p <0.001). Conclusion: the tele-education strategy was a valid and accepted tool for ACS and can be used in training programs for craniofacial anomalies, since it enabled the exposure and discussion of the content in a dynamic way, giving the ACS the necessary knowledge on craniofacial anomalies.
