Abstract
El Programa Nacional de Telemedicina/Telesalud es un Programa enmarcado en el Plan Nacional del Buen Vivir, que tiene como meta fundamental fortalecer el modelo de atención de salud a través de una red de referencia y contrarreferencia desde la atención primaria, al nivel hospitalario de segundo y tercer nivel, a través de herramientas telemáticas contribuyendo a que el Sistema Nacional de Salud, SNS llegue de manera universal y sin costo a toda la población ecuatoriana, mediante consultas clínicas y de especialidad, a distancia, o con carácter emergente, consultas diagnósticas y de segunda opinión. Promoviendo programas de gestión, capacitación, consulta bibliográfica, así como promoción, prevención, investigación e interculturalidad, para garantizar los principios de universalidad, equidad, calidad y eficiencia del Sistema en su Red Pública Integral de Salud.
